On Wednesday afternoon, March 31, 2021 Pastor Gomez went to rest. A gentle, kind man who loved and trusted God throughout his life, and served others humbly, generously, and graciously, always believing the best of people.

Survived by his loving wife, Nilda Gomez, of 59 years and his sons; Moses (Janet), Pablo (Maria), Michael (Betzaida). He was the 2nd of four siblings: Rafael (deceased), Ramon, & Fredesvinda. He will be missed by his five grandchildren; Erik, John, Austin, Derek, Mariela.

Pastor Gomez was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic on October 24, 1936. He was baptized into the Seventh Day Adventist Church on August 8th,1959 at the Central church. There he led the Adventist Youth Society, Sabbath School, Lay Activities and was elected as Elder on various occasions. In 1966 he organized the church in San Luis, where he worked as Bible Worker.

He departed to the U. S. in 1970 where he led at the Intervale SDA Church in Bronx, NY as Elder and Personal Ministries Director.
Pastor Gomez traveled to Puerto Rico at the beginning of 1973 where he studied and majored in theology at Antillian College in Mayaguez and graduated in 1976. There he also worked as Colporteur in 1973 and 1974 and obtained distinction as "Champion of Sales" of the Antillian Union.

In January 4, 1977, he returned to Santo Domingo, accompanied by his family. There he worked in the districts of La Paz, Gazcue and also directed as principal of the Metropolitan Academy and was ordained in August 1980. That same year he received a call to serve as director of the Department of Stewardship, Trust and Auditor of the Central Dominican Conference.

In April 1984 he was called to the Northeastern Conference of Seventh Day Adventists to serve the Rochester-Buffalo Hispanic church district. In 1987 he was transferred to the New England Region, pastoring churches in Bethel, Salem, Lawrence, Worchester, Chelsea, Cambridge, Brocton, New Bedford and a mission group in Alston. In the state of Vermont, he led a small group of 20 perspectives.

Pastor Gomez was invited by the Northeastern Conference to serve as Coordinator for Hispanic Ministries effective September 15, 2001 before retiring in October 3, 2003.

Under his leadership the Hispanic SDA temples in Chelsea and New Bedford, Massachusetts were purchased. Also newly constructed was Salem Hispanic Church.

Pastor Gomez was sought after to perform many wedding ceremonies and baptisms including his sons and grandson. His love for the Word of God, and talent of teaching, enticed many to study the Bible with him.
He will be sadly missed by his family and his friends.

Friends may call 3:30 pm -7:30 pm, Thursday April 8, 2021 at First Rochester Hispanic Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 47 Oakman St. Rochester, NY 14605. Funeral services will be held in the church sanctuary, Friday morning at 10 am. Interment Riverside Cemetery.
