Predeceased by her husband; Bishop Gregory L. Parris, Senior Pastor of The Church of Love Faith Center.
Myra went home to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ on Saturday morning, March 20, 2021.
Pastor Myra E. Parris was born and raised in Washington, DC, where she graduated from DC public schools. Pastor Myra sang, toured, and recorded with the Capital Community Singers, who were based in the DC area. They recorded two albums under The Word label. Their travels took them from the DC area, through New York, Ohio, Illinois, Maryland, Mississippi, Alabama, and New Orleans.
Pastor Myra has worked in worship and in ministry in the District of Columbia, Tennessee, and Florida. She facilitated marriage workshops in Rochester and in London England. She has also taught at Women's Retreats in the Rochester area and in Maryland. After working in the insurance industry for 25 years, she chose to join her husband in full-time ministry at Church of Love Faith Center, where she was ordained as co-pastor in August of 1998.
Pastor Myra is admired by many, for her quiet strength, tenacity, and great faith. Her gifted and loving hands have skillfully touched such ministries as the Children's, Women's, Video, and the Fine Arts. God uses her to reach the hearts of others, and to usher them into His presence. Following the passing of Bishop Parris in February 2016, Pastor Myra served as senior pastor of Church of Love Faith Center until a permanent senior pastor was selected, and installed on September 1, 2019.
Pastor Myra is the proud mother of three children, and grandmother of one.
She will be sadly missed by her family and her church congregation.
Friends may call 10-12 pm Friday March 26, at Church of Love Faith Center, 700 Exchange St, Rochester, NY 14608. Funeral services will be held privately. Myra will be laid to rest next to her husband, Senior Pastor, Bishop Gregory L. Parris at Riverside Cemetery.
