Paul Raymond Gerwitz was called home on Thursday, March 25, 2021 after a short illness. He was born in Buffalo, NY March 8, 1933 the son of Raymond and Catherine (Damon) Gerwitz. After graduating from the Univ. of Buffalo he served several years in the US Army Reserves as a mathematician and then as a Mathematics teacher in various schools in the Buffalo area. After moving his family to Rochester he spent many years as a Systems Designer at Eastman Kodak Co. before retiring in 1991. Paul was an active volunteer member of the Boy Scouts of America, and served in many different positions in other community organizations. He enjoyed many hobbies including stamp collecting, photography, camping and hiking with his family.
He is predeceased by parents; his wife Nancy K. Gerwitz; son, Christopher Gerwitz; grandchild Daniel Gerwitz and brother; David Gerwitz.
He is survived by his children Paul F. (Debra) Gerwitz, Gregory (Karen) Gerwitz, Deborah (James) Dudek, Mary (John) Gerwitz, Patrick (Lisa) Gerwitz, Matthew (Ellen) Gerwitz, Eric (Stacey) Gerwitz, Thomas (Peggy) Gerwitz, Philip (Janine) Gerwitz, and Sarah Gerwitz-Nielsen; daughter in law, Julie Gerwitz; as well as 28 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be Monday April 5, 4-7pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 2636 Ridgeway Avenue. Funeral services will be the following day at 1pm at St. Johns The Evangelist of Spencerport with burial at Holy Sepulchre immediately following.
