Paul G. Ruganis, age 70.
Passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY. He is survived by his sister Mary Ann Ruganis, brother Thomas (Karen) Ruganis, undomesticated Partner Gladys Winkworth, and nieces Christina (John) Corl and Laura (Vince) Bobin.
Born October 14, 1948, Paul was a graduate of Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute with a BS degree in Electrical Engineering, the University of Rochester (MBA, '79), and Rochester Institute of Technology (MSIT, '04). He had a successful career at RG&E, including serving as Vice President of Information Services before his retirement in 2003. Paul found joy in his time as a pilot of small aircraft and as a sailor and tactician aboard a number of schooners. Post-retirement he found fulfillment serving as an instructor for R.I.T. in Dubrovnik, Croatia and traveling to various corners of the world. He particularly enjoyed volunteering at the Verona Street Animal Shelter, feeding the wild birds in his neighborhood and caring for his cat Nara.
Friends wishing to honor Paul's life may make a contribution to the Verona Street Animal Shelter, or simply lift a glass of scotch in his memory.
