Paul G. Toner, 79, of Rochester, NY, died Tuesday (April 14, 2020) at the Elderwood of Lakeside Nursing Home in Brockport, NY.
Paul was born on May 7, 1940 in Warren, PA to George and Hildur (Anderson) Toner. He was raised in Niagara Falls, NY, graduating from LaSalle High School in 1958. Paul served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the California Mission from 1961-1963. He graduated from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah in 1965. After returning to Niagara Falls, he worked for Bell Aerospace Corporation. In 1973, he moved his family to Rochester, NY to take a job with Eastman Kodak Company. He received his MBA from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1978. After over 30 years of employment with Kodak, Paul retired in 2004.
Paul married his high school sweetheart, Anne Kathryn Udy for Time and All Eternity on September 30, 1963 in Salt Lake City, UT. They are the parents of seven children: Lisa (James) Mackley, Stephen (Kathy) Toner, Jenifer (Brett) Lindeman, David (Danelle) Toner, Aaron (JaKie) Toner, Carole (Tyler) Robertson and Linea Toner.
He is the grandfather of 24 grandchildren: Rebekah (Terry James) Larson, Jared (Whitney) Mackley, Benjamin (Ashley) Mackley, Kathryn (Glade) Moore, Emily Mackley, Bradley Toner, Zachary Toner, Hayley Toner, Amanda Lindeman, Matthew Lindeman, Jacob Lindeman, Ryan Lindeman, David Lindeman, Mariah (Stetson) Kuta, Carlie Toner, Jackson Toner, CaLon Toner, LuKus Toner, TaTum Toner, Summer Robertson, Seth Robertson, Noah Robertson, Nate Robertson and Azalea Virella. He is also the great grandfather of 7: Karli, Elissa and Cadence Larson, Brynlee and Carson Mackley, Everett Mackley and Luke Moore.
Paul loved his Savior, Jesus Christ, and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints. He served the Church in several capacities over the years, including: Gospel Doctrine Teacher, Stake Sunday School President, High Priest Group Leader and Young Men's Advisor.
Paul was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He took great joy in his family. An avid genealogist, Paul was proud of his Swedish/Irish heritage. Constantly adding to his library, he was a voracious reader of books, especially mystery novels. He also liked a good "Who Done It" movie. To find peace in a busy house full of seven children, he appreciated classical music. Paul was a life-long learner and studied the Italian, German and Swedish languages. He was fond of jigsaw and crossword puzzles.
Paul is survived by his wife, Anne, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Frederick (Margaret) Toner and their two sons, Philip and James.
Our Dad is greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
