On, November 17, 2018 at 10:55pm Ray Mason, father, grandfather and great-grandfather lost his battle with liver cancer at the age of 75.
Ray never gave up the fight. He was never alone through the last seven months of his illness. He was always patient and kind, giving and compassionate. He was an excellent teacher and would help anyone, adult or child. Ray knew how to tell a story, not to mention he was a jokester.
Ray and Carol had a rich life together for 56 years. Throughout which he loved spending his time with the babies and children in his family. Like most, Ray and Carol and their children went through hard times, but they got through them together, as a family. There was a lot of laughter and good times too.
After his last treatment on November 7th, he started slipping away. He was surrounded by friends and family to the end. He will be missed terribly by all who knew him. The family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers and help.
Ray was predeceased by his parents, Raymond W. Mason, Sr. and Eloise (Wilson) Parker; granddaughter, Kennedy; sisters, June, Carol, Marion and Pat.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Carol Mason; his children, Shari (Wayne) Youngman, Rebecca Mason, and Gregory (Sue) Mason; grandchildren, Jaimie (Chad) Cullen, Jessica, Tim (Rachel), Michael, Josh, Spencer, Mitchell, Samantha & Brady; great-grandchildren, his little "Buddy" Caleb, Gavin, Elliott, Landon, Aubrey and Keegan; and brother Ronald (Trisha) Mason; many nieces and nephews.
A special thanks to Beth Godden, who was there everyday in his final hours and to Laurie Thomas, and Diane, John and Jake Brickler for all their help.
Family will receive friends 3 - 5 PM Friday, November 30, 2018 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 2636 Ridgeway Ave., where his Memorial Service will follow at 5:00 PM.
