Raymond "Shah, Howard, Champion" Young-Bey, was born July 18th, 1956 in Manhattan, NY.
He was the first son of the late Olivett Young. Raymond was no stranger to all five boroughs of New York City. Bushwick Houses was his home which he proudly kept in his heart and vocalized to those who knew him well. His youthful days were filled with playing sports and due to his impeccable style he was known as "Fly." He loved watching movies and over the years he developed a massive film collection. HEAT was his all-time favorite movie and we all know why.
In 2000, Raymond moved to Brockport, NY where he spent his most joyful years with his wife, Fairlea, and her children. Together, they all became a family, making many memories over the years that they hold dear today. Fairlea met Ray when he was 11 and she was 9, and while distance kept them separated they always stayed close friends.
During his time in Brockport, Raymond studied at Monroe Community College in Human Services and worked at Kline Brite Industry before transferring to Bondaville Manufacturing. Although suffering from health complications, he continued to work at a local video store, where he had access to all the films he wanted. Raymond enjoyed the simple things in life; Movie Nights, playing Scrabble with his wife, a secret gardener, and hanging out with friends and family. He also had an admiration for star gazing while spending many nights on the porch watching the sky.
Raymonds kind nature and boisterous laugh will truly be missed by all. He is predeceased by his mother Olivett, and his son Jamel and grandson Kel' Vyn. Raymond's life will be forever cherished by his wife, Fairlea, his seven daughters, Chanell,
Nakiya, Shaleen, Stephfea, Octavia, Treasure, and Laressa. His sisters, Debra (Darrell), Barbara (Charles), Bertha, Edith ( Gino), and Alicia. His brothers, Kenny, Timothy, Kevin, Gino (Edith), Hampton, James and Ron Du. His grandchildren, Ja'ha, Chase, Christine, Jade, Kal'ven, Calvin, Daniel, Aaron, Alonzo, Teodor, and Andrei. As well as a host of nieces and nephews, and loving family and friends.
We will never forget him. A fighter to the End.
