Passed on May 11, 2019 at the age of 97.
Survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Jean Desens; children, Kathy (Jim) Barclay, Mike (Karen) Desens, Donna (Charles) Merkey, Rick (Terry) Desens, Jenny (Bill) Benedict, & Scott (Charlene) Desens; 18 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; & many nieces & nephews.
Richard was known as the Ancient Mariner by his family a title that fit him perfectly, he was sailing till his mid eighties. He served in the US Coast Guard during WWII achieving the rank of Quarter Master, later joining the American Legion.
Funeral Service will be held, Wednesday June 12, 9:30am at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish at St. Cecilia's Church, 2732 Culver Rd # 1, Rochester, NY 14622
