Predeceased by his Son, Richard C. Engelbrecht & Sister, Doris Leipold.
He is survived by his Loving Wife of 69 years, Joann (Schwartz) Engelbrecht; Linda Engelbrecht widow of Richard C. Bud was a resident of Hilton over 65 years where he built his own house. He retired from Eastman Kodak Company where he was a tool & die maker. In his leisure he enjoyed hiking (and taught his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren the joy of this family event), traveling with family and friends, square dancing (where he acquired many longtime friends), cross country skiing, water skiing, sail boating, gardening, and reading.
Bud and his wife volunteered for many years giving tours and teaching the history of the Charlotte Lighthouse (Bud taking people up 42 spiral steps and 11 rungs on a ladder into the lamp room at the top many times that day). When visiting Bud, he was found to be working on his Sudoku puzzles. He had the love and companionship of his eight dogs over the years – Zeke, Butch, Spook, Klutz, Chan, Coco, Abbey, and Charlie.
Family will receive friends Thursday August 24th from 4-7PM, at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 2636 Ridgeway Ave.
