Rochester: Born February 11, 1927 in Tupper Lake, NY. Died Sunday, September 5, 2010 in Rochester. Predeceased by her parents, William and Mary (Provost) Thomas; husband, Salvatore Joseph; brothers, Clayton and Bill Thomas; son-in-law, John Benza. She is survived by her daughters, Rita (Jerry) Bakewicz and Sandra Benza; son, Gary Terziani of Albany, NY; grandchildren, Tracie (Dan) Fullam, Jason (fiancee Heather) Benza, Michael Benza; sisters, Emeline Bruculere, Betty Nuzzo; brothers, Brainard (Betty) Thomas, Kenny (Flo) Thomas, Don (Sue) Thomas, Byron (Jean) Thomas; several nieces, nephews and best friend, Alice Bakewicz.
Rita passed away peacefully after a brave and courageous battle with Dementia and Parkinson Disease. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and mother-in-law. Rita was a dedicated Yankees fan. She will be sadly missed by family, friends and by all whose lives she touched.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Rochester Presbyterian Home for the wonderful care given to Rita during her stay. Also to thank the staff of Lifetime Care Hospice.
Family and friends may call Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the New Comer Funeral Home, 2636 Ridgeway Ave. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday 11 AM at St. Stanislaus Church, 1124 Hudson Ave. Entombment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Stanislaus Church Memorial Fund in Rita's memory.
