Mr. Robert (Skip) Cade, age 84, of Scottsville, passed away on February 26, 2025, after a bravely fought long illness.
A memorial service, with military honors, will be held on March 5, at 12:00 noon at the Open Door Baptist Church, 350 Scottsville-Chili Rd., Churchville. A reception with the family present will be held after the service. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
Born in Clifton Springs, Skip served his Country in the US Army. He was a highly skilled truck driver/heavy equipment operator for 35 years at Monroe Tractor. He was an entrepreneur and owned several small businesses in his lifetime, including a small-engine repair shop out of his home. He had many friends and loyal customers.
He was an expert gardener and could fabricate/repair most anything. Known for his quick wit and love of strong black coffee, Skip was also known for his confident faith in God and a resilient courage in the face of his difficult illness.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Beth Cade (Martell); daughters, Debbie Keady (Jeff ); Sherry Maynard (Marc); Jessica Cade; sister, Pat D’Agostino (John); 8 grandchildren ; Alissa Becker (Josh), Joel Keady (Samantha), Douglas Keady (Kecia), Mitchell Keady (Emily), Heather Heale (Garrett), Caleb Maynard, Garrett Maynard, Jeremy Maynard (Courtney Archibald); 13 great-grandchildren, niece and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents; Paul and Edith(Gruschow) Cade, sister, Vera Cade(Sis), aunts and uncles and beloved family friend, Homer Van Voorhis.
