Robert Elliott Coomber
Robert (Bob) Coomber was born May 6, 1934, the son of Raymond A. Coomber and N. Louise Freeborn and lived at 9 Deland Park A until his marriage in 1954. He attended the East Avenue School in Fairport and for 6th grade at the Church Street School, went on to the West Avenue High School for Middle and High School years, graduating in 1952. He married Florence M. Colwell from Yonkers in 1954.
He worked in the Trucking industry until Joining Eastman Kodak for 30 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Naval Reserve at the present GEVA theater building on Washington Square, for eight years but was never called to active service. He was an amateur photographer, attaining the position of Associate of the Kodak Camera Club. Later, changing his hobby to genealogy, became a member of the Kodak Genealogy Club until it disbanded and then the Rochester Genealogical Society until his death. He served as a genealogical helper for several years at the Family History Center and, as part of a RGS program, at the Main Rochester library. He joined the Sons of the American Revolution and served as the Rochester Chapter Treasurer since 2005, He has 9 documented ancestors having served in the Revolution. He and his wife shared Mayflower ancestors.
He moved into the town of Greece in 1960 and has lived there the rest of his life at different addresses. He died November 19th 2022, predeceased by his wife Florence and daughter Cynthia Mitchell; brothers Rowland and Jesse. Survived by son Jeff in Bakersfield, California and daughters, Tracey Sheehan (Tim) and Patty Law, 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
