Robert Edward Fathergill (Gilly) passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at the age of 82. He was predeceased by his father, Howard Fathergill; mother, Mary Casey Fathergill, and brother, William. He is survived by his ex-wife and mother of his children, Jean Rose Stowell; son, Robert (Christa) Fathergill; daughters, Lu Ann Pavlovych (Mike Altonberg), Carrie (Alan) Tubbs, Jeanie (Darryl) Horton; bonus daughter, Katie (Michael) Traver; grandchildren, Ryan (Lauren) Ortiz, Kristina and Bridgett Horton, Nick Fathergill (Emily McGarry), Dillon and Tayler Griswold, Melanie and Roman Pavlovych; brother, Tom (Nora) Fathergill, and his beloved cat, Daisy.
Bob was born in Geneva, New York, on March 10th 1938, to Howard and Mary Casey Fathergill. He was raised by his aunt and uncle, George and Gertrude Casey Pedersen. He attended St. Stephen's Chruch and was a member of the Geneva Nester Hose Fire Company. He worked for Geneva Milk Company, American Can Company, and was a proud 56-year member of Ironworkers Local 33. Bob was an avid euchre player and a lifelong fan of the New York Giants football team.
In his retirement, Bob went to work for the Greece Police Department as a custodian/maintenance man, enjoyed golfing often, spending time with his children and was very active in helping them with remodeling projects in their homes. There was never a dull moment when Bob was in the room and his pride for being an Irishman was showcased often with everyone he met, through his gift of gab topped off with his Irish wit.
Bob's family wishes to thank all his family and friends for a lifetime of great memories with and stories about their dad.
To fulfill Bob's wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral.
