September 30, 2022 at age 86. After a brief illness, Bob died peacefully at Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center in Greece, with his wife Carol by his side.
Bob was born on March 16, 1936 to Charles and Frances Hinkelman of Rochester, NY. Bob and his sisters Doris, Arline, Joyce and Diane spent many happy summers at their family cottage in the Braddock Bay area. Bob made lifelong friends at Holy Rosary parish, the Aquinas Institute (class of '53), and St. John Fisher College (class of '58).
Bob's passion was photography. At Fisher he was staff photographer for the yearbook and a founding member of the Photography Club. He was a charter member of the North American Nature Photography Association, a member of the Photographic Society of America and a Fellow of the Kodak Camera Club where he was particularly known for his monochrome, nature and landscape photography.
Bob loved the natural world and was a longtime member of Burroughs Audubon Nature Club and the Astronomy Section of the Rochester Academy of Science. Bob and Carol camped and hiked with their children in numerous National Parks, and after retirement, traveled the country documenting its beauty and sharing it with others through print exhibits and natural history slide programs in the Rochester and Boston areas.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carol (Vogt) Hinkelman; children Elizabeth "Betsy" Hinkelman (Brad Myers), Christopher (Ursula) Hinkelman, Laura Hinkelman and Jeanne Hinkelman; grandchildren Ryan Hinkelman and Susan Hinkelman Stich; and numerous nieces and nephews.
