GREECE, NY - Passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at the age of 88.
Bob had been a long time resident of Gates. Born in Brooklyn, NY of immigrant parents, he was the sole surviving sibling of seven. Predeceased by his parents, Alf Schaeffer (Schaper) and Dora Samuels (Piasetzki); brothers, Aaron 'Alfred', Ernst, Edmond, Jack; and sisters, Laura Walter and Gloria Owczarek. Survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Norine (Cianca); his devoted daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Robert Brule; brother-in-law, Anthony Cianca of Sauquoit, NY; nieces and nephews; good friend, George Pupparo, and a community of friends at The Village at Unity.
Bob was a proud Korean War Army Veteran serving as Corporal in the 44th Engineer Construction Battalion and the 8th Army Engineer Construction Group at Incheon, South Korea's combat zone. He was a 33 year retiree of General Motors, Delco Products Division. Bob had been an avid bowler, beginning in the mid-1950's, in leagues at The Avery, Gates Bowl, Perrys and Terrace Gardens, and a loyal L.A. Dodger fan who forgave the Dodgers leaving Brooklyn those many years ago.
Bob was a kind and generous person, well-liked and loved with a fun sense of humor. There was not a place where he did not come upon someone he knew. Bob will be most remembered for the love of his family. He cherished times with family, and being at 'the cottage' on Canandaigua Lake. Dad will be missed beyond measure.
