Groenendaal, Roger A.

Greece: Passed away from complication due to vascular disease on December 9, 2009 at age 65. He is predeceased by his father, Carl; mother, Ann (Groenendaal) Denny; and step-father, Russell E. Denny Sr. He is survived by his daughters, Carrie (Robert) Fischer and Kathleen (Scott) Truelson; grandchildren, Lily, Samuel and Grant Fischer, Olivia, Nathaniel, Jacob and Cameron Truelson; brother, David (Sue) Groenendaal.

Roger was a graduate of RL Thomas in 1962 and then served in the US Air Force from 1962 to 1968 and also served in the Vietnam War as an Intercept Control Technician. He was employed by Wegmans for over 45 years starting in 1958 as an Apprentice Journeyman (Meat Cutter) ending in 2003 as Meat Merchandiser. Roger enjoyed cooking, needle craft, gardening and his grandkids. He was a friend of Bill W. for 11 years.

Family and friends may call on Friday, December 11 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at New Comer Funeral Home, 2636 Ridgeway Avenue. His Funeral Ceremony will be held on Monday December 14 at 9:30 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, 2400 Ridge Road West. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center.
