Ruth joined her childhood sweetheart and dear husband of 68 years, Jack L. Walker on Thursday August 26th, 2021 at the age of 95 surrounded by legions of family and friends. She is survived by her children, William (Sandie) Walker, Margaret (Martin) Barry, Patricia (Greg) Thornton, John (Kathy) Walker, Thomas (Judy) Walker, Douglas (Jackie) Walker, David (Stephanie) Walker and James (Susan) Walker; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren along with many nieces; nephews; her beloved Mary Kay customers and friends . Ruth was a strong woman of faith. Also a genius at stretching a food budget for four into ample meals for 10 or more. Ruth expanded her love for her growing family the same way. Famous for her chicken noodle soup and devilled eggs, she insured that every Christmas was the best yet and every visit "home" included sponge candy and homemade jam. Ensuring that every family member's needs were met, she ran home parties to sell toys and eventually joined the Geyssen Nursery team. In her 50's, she started a 46-year career with Mary Kay Cosmetics, finally retiring at age 96 as the company's most senior director. A great believer in education, Ruth served on endless school committees and parent organizations, including as Cardinal Mooney High School's first Women's Guild president. She also served many terms as an officer of St. John's Rosary Society and was an alum of Seton Hill College. She found great joy in literature, dancing, theatre, travel and the NY METS. She was also a devoted alum of Mercy High School, and believed deeply in service to others. A memorial service will be held on Saturday May 28th, 2022 at St. John the Evangelist Church at 10AM. In lieu of flowers, she requested memorial donations to be made to the following charities, The Mercy High School Alumni Fund, 1437 Blossom Road. Rochester, NY 14610 and/or The Nest Postpartum support, 5116 Jacks Blvd Champaign, IL 61822 and/or to St. John the Evangelist Church of Greece 2400 W Ridge Rd. Rochester, NY 14626.
