Gates: Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at age 78. Predeceased by his wife, Virginia (Potts), parents; 1 brother and 7 sisters. He is survived by his loving daughters, Micky (Randy) Koch and Mary Beth (DJ Prince) LaMagro; grandchildren, Brandon and Gina Koch; sister-in-law, June DeHollander; many nieces and nephews. Sam volunteered at the Salem Soup Kitchen and Holy Apostles Bingo for many years. He was an avid bowler at Gates Bowl, loved playing cards and walking his dog, Buddy.
Family and friends may call Friday 4-8 PM at the New Comer Funeral Home, 2636 Ridgeway Avenue. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 9:30 AM at Holy Apostles Church, 530 Lyell Avenue. Interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Salem Soup Kitchen, 60 Bittner St., Rochester, New York 14621 or Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center, c/o Hospice of Rochester Lifetime Care, 3111 Winton Road South, Rochester, New York 14623.
