Samuel J Pompili Jr, 66, peacefully went home to be with Jesus on April 18, 2019, at Monroe Community Hospital with family by his side.
Sam was a loving son, father, brother and a proud grandfather. He was born on January 7, 1953 in Rochester, NY. Sam, a 1971 graduate of Greece Athena High School, where he was a star athlete on the wrestling and baseball teams. He went on to enjoy a successful career at Eastman Kodak Company.
Sam was a die-hard fan of the New York Yankees and Buffalo Bills. He enjoyed political banter, cracking jokes, and an ice cold Cherry Pepsi while listening to his favorite classic rock tunes. Above all, he lived his life with a steadfast love for his children and family. Time spent with his adoring children and grandchildren were without a doubt, his life's happiest moments. He will be remembered for all the support, guidance, and encouragement he freely gave and his unwavering devotion to those he loved.
Sam and his family would like to thank all of the wonderful people at Monroe Community Hospital, who spent endless hours over the past 23 years, providing dedicated comfort and care to make his life as fulfilling as possible.
He was the son of the late Samuel J. Pompili Sr. He is survived by his loving mother Josephine (Troiano) Pompili; Ex-wife Dawn (Craig) Stickel; Children Andrea (Justin) Callicott, Melissa (Sergio) Resendiz, Joseph (Gillian) Pompili; Grandchildren Bryson, Liam, Isaac, Joshua, and Sophia; Siblings Barbara (Raymond) Mosher; Paul (Linda Ketchum) Pompili and Gary (Bonnie) Pompili and nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and many dear friends.
Viewing hours will be held on Saturday, April 20th from 3-6pm at New Comer Funeral Home; 2636 Ridgeway Ave., Rochester, NY 14626. In addition, a Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 22nd at 12:00pm at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 2461 Lake Ave. Rochester, NY 14612. We request all attendees to meet at the Dewey Ave. Gate at 11:45am to be directed to the grave site.
One of Sam's wishes is that during calling hours, friends and family wear bright colors to celebrate his life both here on earth and his new life in heaven.
