Sandra is now resting peacefully after a long 3 months in the hospital and one week in a nursing home. Doting on her girls and grandchildren is what brought her much joy and it meant the world to her! Sandra also, hosted many gatherings at her home that created a lot of great memories for family and friends.
While in Sunday school at the age of 9, she met her long life Best Friend Bernice! They didn't go to school together but their friendship toured all the same avenues life had to offer! She was part of TABS Sorority at Jefferson High School and started her career of 37yrs at GMAC (while on Co-op) before she graduated from Jeff in 1961! She made many friends while working at GM, involving herself in many of the offices gatherings/parties and GM women's Club.
Missing her friends after retirement, she started everyone, keeping herself and everyone up to date on what was going on in everyone's lives and when she lost the ability to use the computer due to the Alzheimer's the torch was past.
Sandra was an extremely active person. She bowled until her mid 70's and taught her girls to bowl as well. Cheering on their teams and everyone bowling was the highlight to Saturday mornings! She golfed, played baseball, loved watching sports and doing all sorts of crafts! She was in awe over High school plays/musicals and volunteered to be an usher the Rochester Auditorium. She also volunteered for the Ronald McDonald House. Working well over 200 hours doing pack ups and working in their boutique for the sale. Very active indeed, all of this and still not missing a grandchild's soccer, baseball, band, gymnastic, cheer, Girl Scout, Boy Scout, horse etc. event!
Sandra loved to travel and camp. She took her Children on camping vacations touring the United States and her grandchildren on camping vacations to several beaches! She went abroad overseas; Alaska, Hawaii and she cruised!
At home, she loved to garden and could be seen tending to her gardens often. She was an animal lover, never saying No to bring an animal home! She had a lot of paw prints on her heart and donated to the ASPCA on a regular basis, collecting blankets and shirts from the organization. A lot of great memories were made with our mom, she was a second mom to some, and she was grandma Deekee (from her dog DK) to others but all in all she was just the best; "so sweet, caring, kind, loving, always being funny and having fun!" Always Love You
