Rochester:
Savannah Lucille "Penny" Lash was born on December 8th, 1932 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina; formerly known as Old Town. She attended Forsyth County public schools before relocating. In 1955, Savannah joined her elder sister Mary in Rochester, New York. She would soon follow in Mary's footsteps, and enter the field of nursing. Post education, Savannah worked at Baird Nursing Home for several years. It was in Rochester, where Savannah would meet and later marry Leonard Johnson. Together, they raised five children. In 1982, Savannah joined the Jewish Home of Rochester, from which she would later retire.
She is predeceased by her parents; James and Cora Lash, sisters, Mary, Cathern, Gloria and Frances; brothers; Edward and Robert, and great-granddaughter Raina. She is survived by her husband, Leonard; her brother, Fred; her children Jerry, Anita (Lewis), Adrienne, Xavier (Priscilla), and Alicia (David, Sr.); grandchildren, Richele (Duane, Sr.), Cierra, Chakari, Zykiah, Albert III, and David, Jr; and great-grandchildren; Duane, Jr, Gisele and Reniya. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews and a host of special friends.
