Scott Meli, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, passed suddenly on Tuesday, November 8. He was 63 years old.
Scott is survived by his wife, Margaret (née Carlson); children, Jennifer and Michael; son-in-law, Joseph Sweeney; daughter-in-law, Lynnette Meli (née Wyand); granddaughter, Laurelei; brother, Mark Meli; sister-in-law, Tracy Skye-Meli; and niece, Emily.
Scott was born December 20, 1958, in Rochester, NY, to Gerald and Carlotta Meli (née Roberts). He graduated from Churchville-Chili High School in 1977 and attended Monroe Community College. He met his wife Margaret in 1982, and they began their long, devoted marriage in March 1983. Their first child, Jennifer, was born in 1984, and their second, Michael, in 1991.
Scott was a longtime musician and played guitar and bass in several bands throughout the Rochester region. An avid music fan, Scott collected records and was known among family and friends as a source of obscure music trivia. When not playing music, he was cheering on his favorite football team, the Green Bay Packers. Most of all, Scott enjoyed entertaining his family during a summer cookout or a lively board game night and always had a joke to tell.
Scott worked as a deputy for the Monroe County Sheriff's Department for 25 years and retired in 2010. He spent the happy years of his retirement playing music, antiquing with his wife, Margaret, and helping care for his granddaughter, Laurelei.
