In loving memory of Shamil” Rooter” Lee
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Shamil Lee, affectionately known as “Rooter,” who left this world far too soon on March 22, 2025. She was born on October 3, 1994, in Rochester, NY, and from the very beginning, she was surrounded by love, warmth, and a strong sense of family. Raised by her devoted grandparents, Annie “Miz Moe” Moore and Eric “Mitty” Moore, Shamil grew into a compassionate, hardworking, and vibrant woman who left an unforgettable mark on the lives of everyone she encountered.
Shamil was a proud graduate of Edison Technical High School in 2012, where she was known not only for her intelligence but also for her athleticism and team spirit. She was a dedicated volleyball and basketball player and shined as a cheerleader, bringing energy and enthusiasm to every game she participated in. After high school, Shamil pursued a career at Frontier Communications, where she was known for her dedication and friendly spirit. Outside of her professional life.
A Devoted Mother, Daughter, Granddaughter ,Sister, Niece , Cousin and Friend
Among all the roles Shamil played in life, none was more important to her than being a mother. She leaves behind her beloved daughter, Hayden McMillian, who was her pride, joy, and greatest love. Shamil’s devotion to Hayden was unwavering, and she worked tirelessly to provide her with love, guidance, and a strong foundation to grow.
She is survived by her grandparents, Annie “Miz Moe” Moore and Eric “Mitty” Moore, who raised her with care, wisdom, and unwavering support.
Shamil’s family was the cornerstone of her life, and she shared unbreakable bonds with each of them. Her Mom, Sharon Woods, and her sisters, Ayreonna Woods, Heavenly Hunter, and Shaharee Ruther, with whom she shared countless memories and a deep sisterly love.
Her father, Jamil Lee, and her siblings, Jariah Lee, Joshua Lee, and Connor Lee, also mourn the loss of their beloved sister, cherishing the many moments of laughter, love, and togetherness they shared.
Rooter She was also incredibly close to her uncles, Keita Moore and Jovan Pickney, and her aunt, Yolonda “Lonnie” Moore, who played an important role in her life. Among her cousins, Nahziah Carter held a special place in her heart—not just as family, but as a brother figure. She shared an unbreakable bond with Takeya Moore she was truly her "person," They did everything together. Her little cousin Jayon Moore filled her world with joy and laughter. Her cousin Onyx Moore also held a meaningful place in her heart. Shamil had a special relationship with her nieces, Kylie Johnson and Lola Moore, and her nephews, Kylar Peterson and Hunter Peterson, who brought immense joy into her life. She adored being an aunt, showering them with love, playful teasing, and unforgettable memories.
A Heart Full of Love and Laughter
Shamil was much more than her career and achievements, she was the heart and soul of her family and an irreplaceable friend to many. To know Rooter was to experience joy. She had a larger-than-life personality, and her presence could fill any room with laughter. Always quick-witted and full of humor, she had an incredible ability to bring smiles to others, even in the most challenging times. Her family and friends knew her as a true comedian, a free-spirited soul who found joy in making others laugh. Whether through her playful jokes, hilarious storytelling, or infectious energy, she made it her mission to spread happiness wherever she went. She had a way of lifting spirits and making people feel special, a gift that will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A Legacy of Love and Light
Shamil’s impact on the lives of those around her cannot be measured. She was more than a daughter, sister, mother, and friend. She was a light in the lives of many. Her kindness, generosity, and the warmth of her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved her. She taught us all the importance of laughter, love, and cherishing every moment with those who matter most. Though she has left this world, her memory will forever be etched in the hearts of her family and friends.
