Shawn was a gift to his loving Mom and Dad. He passed suddenly and peacefully on March 28th.
Predeceased by Grandparents Ron & Dorall Hardy, Richard & Helen McKechney; Great Grandparents Winifred and Albert Drake, Marjorie (Hardy) McGinn; Aunts and Uncles Joe and Sandy (McKechney) Wacenske, David Chamberlain; Cousin David Wacenske.
Shawn is survived by his Grandmother Betsy (Lown) Hardy; parents Jim McKechney (Dodi), Toni McKechney Hardy (Larry Griffen); Aunts Cheryl Hardy Chamberlain (David), and Jackie Hardy Bray (Paul); Cousins Laurie Metcalf (Mark), Joseph Wacenske (Adriana), David Wacenske, Kathleen Schuyler, Charlene (Patterson)Wacenske (Ray), Chris Chamberlain(Julie), Matt Chamberlain (Margo), Danielle Bray Ryba (Robbie), Gretchen Fordham (Lorne); many, many second cousins, among his closest, Tina Patterson and Trisha Metcalf.
Shawn grew up in Hilton, NY where he graduated High School and went on to attend Bowling Green University in Ohio and finished his Bachelor's Degree in Business at SUNY Brockport.
Shawn pursued his business goals in several local companies and worked hard in recent years at Maximus, assisting those in our community who need help and direction acquiring much needed health care insurance coverage.
Shawn was an avid sportsman in hockey, baseball and golf and followed and loved his Boston Red Sox and Dallas Cowboys from an early age. He was a devoted hockey player in Rochester Youth Hockey travel teams, and a star center-forward for his Hilton High School team, where he still holds the record for season points.
Shawn was an only child who made friends easily and was well loved by his many sporting mates and close boyhood friends, who he cherished his whole life. He was loved by his many cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents, friends, neighbors and workmates.
Shawn never married but had several long relationships, most notably with Joanna Sanguedolce. He had a love for all animals but most recently for his beloved rescue dog, Bear.
Shawn will be loved and missed forever by so many, whose lives he touched with his smile, his generosity and his acceptance.

The Rochester Humane Society, Lollypop Farm There will be a Celebration of Shawn's life at New Comer Cremations and Funerals, 2636 Ridgeway Avenue, Rochester, NY 14626 on Saturday, July 30th from 1-3 PM with a service to follow at 3PM.
