Sig or Ziggy as many also knew him, was a man devoted to family, his profession as an engineer and his relationship with Christ. Proud of his family, he was always prodding to go further, do a bit better. His office at PEKO displayed photos of his family's accomplishments. He was proud too of the farm he built in Pavilion and the building projects both at home and for friends. Sig had a way that drew others into those projects where he would frequently trade special ammunition loads or machining work for their help. He'd also talk anyone's ear off about a range of technical things including photography, shooting, ballistics and anything engineering related. He proudly worked for PEKO Precision for over 35 years. Here he contributed his talents devising patented solutions to complex problems and in his later years, Sig loved mentoring the next generation. As a friend stated, "he knew how to leave people better than he found them". This sense of passing on to the next generation was also a large part of his faith. He loved to challenge presuppositions and discuss God's sovereignty over all things and lived as he could according to what he believed. He left an impression on almost everyone he met and will no doubt live on in the many stories as he lived a life that was full and blessed. God's speed.
Memorial service will be Friday May 3, 9:30am at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 2636 Ridgeway Avenue. Private burial at Bayside Cemetery, Potsdam, NY.
