Story, Stephanie (Malafeew)
Rochester: June 6, 1942 - May 9, 2010. Mother's Day, after a valiant battle with cancer. Survived by her loving and devoted children, Christine (Rick) Story, Ginny (Paul) Root, Walter Malafeew, Jr. and Alicia Lechner (Tim); 5 beloved grandchildren, Matthew and Thomas Story, Harlowe and Bridget Root and Brody Lechner. Predeceased by husbands, Walter G. Malafeew, Sr. and William E. Story.
Stephanie came to this country as an orphaned child after having been born into the atrocities of World War II. She lived in Philadelphia and New York City before settling in Rochester.
She touched many lives through her work with the Catholic Family Center, the Refugee Resettlement Program, the Rochester City School District and various charities with her husband and soulmate, William Story.
She leaves behind many loving friends, students and special friends, Nadine Gaither, Marge Brumfield and Sue Van Strydonck. Anyone who knew Stephanie was enriched by her indomitable spirit, compassion and zest for life. She will be dearly missed.
The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Milano of the Strong Radiation Department and the Hildebrandt Hospice staff for their exceptional care.
