Susan Lambert, 1954 - 2024
Susan Lambert, beloved mother, sister, and friend, passed away suddenly on the evening of June 13, 2024, one month short of her 70th birthday. She battled metastatic breast cancer for 6 years before her passing.
Susan was born on July 15th, 1954, in Bridgton, Maine, to her loving parents Carlene and Richard (Dick). She was the eldest of seven children, five girls and two boys. She cherished her siblings and her role as a sister.
Throughout her life, Susan exuded wit and compassion. Her daughter, Katie, was the light of her life, and she took great joy in watching her grow into the remarkable person she is today. Katie's father Michael and his family also held a special place in Susan's heart. Susan's affections extended beyond family; she had many beloved friends and pets throughout her life that acted as a constant source of comfort and companionship.
Susan was the recipient of much grace and generosity in her life, and in turn she was dedicated to helping others. She worked as a substance abuse counselor in Rochester for over 20 years, leaving a lasting impact on her colleagues and clients alike. She made frequent charitable donations to many causes near and dear to her heart (the collection of calendars that arrived at her door annually from WWF, Audubon Society, etc. was a testament to this). She was a Girl Scout leader throughout Katie's childhood and took great pride and pleasure in the girls' accomplishments.
In her free time, Susan enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially camping and bird-watching, taking long drives in the backcountry, making a great Goodwill run, and decorating her space. She had a green thumb and liked tending to her plants. She was also a very accomplished reader, finishing innumerable books in her lifetime. She will be remembered for her stubbornness as well as her tenderness (and for her seven-layer bars at Christmastime).
Susan is survived by her loving daughter, Katie; her siblings, Carol, Michael, Janine, Renee, Stephanie, and Matthew; her cherished cat, Buddy; and many other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
Calling hours for Susan will be held at the Pavilion at Legion Eyer Park on Thursday, June 27th from 5-8 pm.
