Susanne Sullivan McMurray gained her angel wings at the age of 79, on August 29th at Strong Memorial Hospital’s Hospice Care in Rochester, NY. We greatly appreciate the care and support of the hospice team and her general practitioner.
Susanne's indominable spirit and faith helped her overcome life’s many challenges. Her spirit of love, creativity and humor touched all those in her life. Susanne was a force in all she did, such as a co-founder of the Remsen Barn Festival, a top salesperson for Avon and president of the Gates Library Board. As an Avon Lady, she brought beauty and joy to the people she visited each day. She was talented and adventurous in many aspects of her life. As an avid quilter and embroiderer, she ensured her family had many beautiful mementos of her. She loved all her animals from her childhood horses to her dogs and cats. She was never without a pet. Susanne was a constant caregiver within the family and her neighborhood. Not a day went by where Susanne didn't talk about how much her children and family meant to her -- her family was arguably her most important achievement in life.
Susanne is survived by her loving husband Ernest James McMurray, her sister Eileen Hopsicker (and William Hopsicker), sister-in-law Olive Sullivan, children Laureen McMurray Smith (and Bradley Alan Smith) and Kelley McMurray Sarkis, grandchildren, Frederick William Sarkis III, Quinlan Rhys Boyle, Sydney Susanne Sarkis, Jae Sarkis, and Riordan Alsandair Boyle, countless friends and relatives. Susanne was predeceased by her parents Kenneth and Catharine Sullivan and brothers Bernard Sullivan, Richard Sullivan (and Kitty Sullivan), and Timothy Sullivan.
Family will receive friends 4:30-6:30pm Thursday September 5, 2024 at New Comer Cremations and Funerals, 2636 Ridgeway Ave. (Greece Location).
