Theodore (Ted) John Brightman passed peacefully at home on July 23, 2023 with family by his side to join his beloved wife, Marilyn, exactly 6 months after her passing.
He is also predeceased by his daughter, Kathleen; parents, Nathan and Katherine; brother, Phil; brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Ginny; and sister, Kelly Young.
Ted is survived by his sons, David (Linda), Daniel and Tom; grandchildren Katelyn (Michael) Tivey and Rachel; great grandson Michael Tivey; brother, Nathan (Sheila); sisters, Susan Cooper, Susan Drobek (Charlie Hutching); and brother-in-law Cliff (Sandy) Mills.
Ted was a resilient man who lived life on his own terms and enjoyed a good laugh. He was a formidable opponent in all things sports, namely baseball and bowling, and looked forward to a good game of Whist or Pinochle with his brothers and friends. A retiree of Gleason Works and umpiring softball games for over 30 years, Ted took pride in working hard to provide for his family. He also liked to play bingo and the ponies.
To unwind, he enjoyed nothing more than a Nick Tahoe's porker, a John Wayne flick, and an iced cold can of Pepsi-cola.
Ted will be missed greatly by many family and friends but his legacy will live on through memories of his unrelenting jokes and good times shared by all.
Family will receive friends 4 - 7 PM Friday, August 4, 2023 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 2636 Ridgeway Avenue.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Dementia Society of America.
