Valerie C. Ackley

It is with a heavy and hurting heart that I bring news that Valerie Castiglione Maiorana Ackley, 68, passed away peacefully Monday, March 7th 2022 into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father. Valerie was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1954 to the late Anthony and Nancy Castiglione. She was extremely proud of her Sicilian heritage, which was most apparent in her authentic home cooking, spicy attitude and unconditional love for her family. Family was her passion and her tender heart and amazing culinary skills brought them together often. She was also crazy about her two puppies, Bart and William, and spoiled them constantly. Her quirky outlooks on life, her sweet realness, and her quick witted responses that would bring big smiles and gut busting laughter will be missed greatly. Thank you for being a part of our lives, we love you so much! We will think of you often! Till we see each other again!

Valerie is survived by her husband of 18­ years, Ricky Ackley; Son, Anthony Maiorana (Aimee); granddaughter, Emmeline Morgan; Brother, Anthony Castiglione (Pauline), Nephews, Anthony and Dom of Long Island, NY; Stepson, Adrian Ackley (Brenda) of Fredericksburg, VA; Stepdaughter, Heather Walters (Rusty) of King George, VA.; 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents, Anthony and Nancy Castiglione and her brother John Castiglione.

Per Valerie's request there will be no wake or funeral, instead there will be a Celebration of Life held in her honor. A place and time is yet to be determined and will tentatively take place in late spring/ early summer. A post on her Facebook page will be created and will be updated with the date, time and location well in advance.

In lieu of flowers being sent to Ricky, we ask that you please plant a few flower bulbs in her memory and/or give your desired contribution to your local place of worship.
