Our Beloved Vance Sales Jr. was born on December 20, 1948 in Covington, Tennessee to Lucy May (Gaines) Sales and Vance Sales (both deceased). Vance received his formal education in the Covington school system at Frazier High School. In 1980 Vance received his minister license in Mansfield, Ohio. Vance was known for dancing, his famous slow cooked beans, and his love of traveling.
Vance was one of eight children. He was the brother to Irma Jean Davis, Marsha (Walter Lee) Goodman, and Jean Drake.
Vance was preceded in death by four of his brothers, John Albert Sales, Willie Earl Sales, Melvin Lee Sales, and Willie Preston Sales.
In 1965 Vance met Lyna Lois Flowers in his hometown of Covington, Tennessee and to this union was born Kenneth Flowers, Sharon Sales, David Lamont Sales(deceased) and Tammy Flowers. In 1969 the couple moved to Cleveland, Ohio the couple split but remained friends.
In 1974, Vance met Kathryn Clark and the couple married on December 5, 1977 and to this union David Vance III was born. In 1984 the couple had an amicable divorce.
In 2000 Vance met Ester Hopgood, who would be his companion for 17 years. The couple moved to Rochester to be with big sister Jean. In Rochester, Vance started a new life and had many friends and was the social butterfly and comedian.
Vance was also the father of Alva Willard and the loving step-father of Janice Bozeman, Trina Flowers, and Calvin Young.
Vance was the patriarch and grandfather of 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was cherished by many nieces and nephews.
Vance will be missed by everyone that took the time to truly know him.
