Vernon Paul Thayer

Rochester:

Passed away on December 22nd, 2017 at the age of 101.
Predeceased by his parents, Foster & Martha Thayer; cherished wife Harriet "Bing" Thayer.
He is survived by his loving children, Marcia (Richard) Kramer, Paul (Marilyn) Thayer, Connie (Craig) Welch; grandchildren, Nathan (Kristen), Peter (Beth), Adam (Desirae) Kramer, Daniel Thayer, Maile (Chad) Phillips, Paige (Wes) McGeorge, Kenzie and Shawn (Emily) Welch; great grand-daughter, Lily Kramer; beloved friend Triss Barnes.
Vern's career was with Eastman Kodak Co. Upon his retirement, he spent his time matting and framing his wife's paintings and playing tennis at the Tennis Club of Rochester. He was very involved with Lake Avenue Baptist Church and the Wedge Community Development Program.
He was a founding member of the Rochester Chapter of the Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA). He achieved the national record for most whole blood and platelet donations for the Red Cross of America.
Vern was very open hearted, loving, and always had a big smile for everyone. He lived a full and purposeful life.
The world is a better place for his presence.
A celebration of life will be held at the convenience of the family. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Rochester Chapter HLAA; 1630 Woodard Rd. Webster, NY 14580.
