Veronica Shaw or "Ronnie" as most knew her, was born on February 3rd, 1969 in Rochester, NY to Mallue and Jannette Shaw. She was the middle of three children. Veronica attended Wilson Magnet High School in Rochester, NY where she played Volleyball, Softball, and played the flute. She graduated in 1987, giving birth to her only-child Briiana later that same year.
Veronica attended Monroe Community College and received her Associates Degree in Accounting in 1991. She furthered her education at The College at Brockport State University of New York, completing her Bachelor's in Business Administration in 1996. All-the-while, working as a bookkeeper. During this same time, Veronica regularly volunteered as a classroom parent while Briiana was in Pre-k and Elementary School. In 2004, Veronica decided to leave the accounting field and joined the City of Rochester Public Library working in the Local History Department until her passing. She was also an active member in her local Union.
Veronica attend The Father's House New York (TFHNY) where she had been a member since 2010. She spent time serving on the Environmental Service Ministry and the Greeting Ministry. Prior to that, she attended West Avenue United Methodist Church in Rochester, NY and served on the Pastor Parish Relationship Committee (PPRC) along with her daughter Briiana.
Veronica enjoyed shopping, attending church, and being a blessing to others whenever she could. She also enjoyed watching Classic and Sci-fi Movies, "B-Movies," and "Period Pieces." She found the most fulfillment and joy in her grandchildren – Alaina and Aria Sharp. She dedicated her time, money, and energy to helping raise them. She took pleasure in pouring herself out for them daily and never thought twice about it. Veronica's whole life revolved around her granddaughters.
On February 17th, 2020 at 7:20 PM while at Highland Hospital in Rochester, NY, God called Veronica Shaw home. She put up a good fight, battling cancer for seven years; But she has the victory because death is never the end. She is now rejoicing in the presence of the Lord, living carefree without the sorrows of this world.
She leaves to cherish her memory her parents: Mallue and Jannette Shaw; Daughter: Briiana (Jason) Sharp; And two granddaughters: Alaina Sharp and Aria Sharp, all of Rochester, NY. Sister: Cassandra (Kenneth) June of Kingstree, SC; Brother: Bryant Shaw of Rochester, NY; Sister-In-Law: Kendrah Shaw, of Rochester, NY. Nephews: Brandon Johnson, Kenneth (Carissa) June, and Jhamar June, all of Kingstree, SC and Donovan Shaw, of Rochester, NY. Niece: Lashonda June, of Kingstree, S.C; Great-nieces: Nijeria Johnson, of Kingstree, SC; Meah Shaw and Aleeyah Shaw, both of Rochester, NY. Great-nephews: Nazir June and Nazari June, of Kingstree, SC. As well as a host of friends and family.
