Virginia Nichols
Greece, NY
Passed away on June 29, 2022 after a long battle with MS at the age of 79.
Virginia is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, William; son, Mark Nichols; daughter, Janet (Randy) Schepler; daughter and caregiver, Beth Nichols; grandchildren, James R. Hoyt, Alexander (Carolyn) Schepler and Dylan Schepler; brothers, James (Cathy) VanPernis, Thomas VanPernis and David (Jennifer) VanPernis; sister in laws, Sylvia Sheeran, Nancy Cowger and Sharon Nichols; several nieces, nephews and dear friends.
She is predeceased by her parents, James R. and Abbie VanPernis; mother in law, Mary Louise Nichols; brother in laws, David Nichols and Ray Sheeran.
Ginny was born Sept 16, 1942 in Dansville, NY. She graduated from Dansville High School where she was class Secretary, Junior Red Cross Treasurer and Prom Queen. Ginny went on to college at Alfred State Tech where she became a member of the Delta Chi Omega sorority and held the position of Treasurer. She was also a member of the Secretarial Association. She graduated with a degree in Secretarial Science. Alfred State Tech was where she met the love of her life who she ended up marrying: Her Billy.
After college they lived in NJ for a couple of years, then moved to Rochester, NY to start a family. Ginny ended up joining the Barnard Ladies Auxiliary and became a life member after holding various offices, as well as an Auxiliary member of the many Fire Dept. related organizations around Monroe County and the state of NY. She was also a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church and was part of Shipmates through the church. Ginny later became a member of the Greece Historical Society and RAMs West. Over the years she enjoyed going out to monthly luncheons with her friends from the Barnard Ladies Auxiliary (The "Out To Lunch Bunch"), as well as the occasional luncheons with her friends from her school days in Dansville (The Ladybugs).
Family will receive friends, Saturday, July 23rd from 1-3PM, at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 2636 Ridgeway Avenue. Virginia's funeral service will immediately follow at 3PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bethany Presbyterian Church, 3000 Dewey Ave., Rochester, NY 14616 in memory of Virginia.
