Wayne "Sonny" Swanger, a beloved jokester and passionate rebel, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on December 21, 1941, Sonny lived a life that was a testament to the joy of living and the importance of family, friendships, and community.
He was proud to have contributed his talents during his career at Eastman Kodak and L.L. Huff Company, where he made lasting friendships and unforgettable memories. Above all, Sonny was deeply proud of his children, often sharing stories of their accomplishments and joys, reflecting the love and devotion he felt as a father.
Sonny's personality shone brightly; he was known for his vibrant spirit and his ability to talk to everyone he met. With a humorous outlook on life, he never missed an opportunity to bring a smile to someone’s face. His love for classic cars mirrored his rebellious nature, as he embraced a lifestyle filled with freedom and adventure.
In his early years, Sonny was not only a dedicated member of the Brockport Volunteer Fire Department but also an avid karate enthusiast. He maintained a remarkable fitness routine, performing over 100 push-ups on his knuckles and fingertips every day until his late 70s. This dedication to physical strength was matched only by his commitment to his community, earning him a place as a proud member of the Sheriff's Association.
As we remember Sonny Swanger, we celebrate a life rich with laughter, love, and resilience. His legacy will continue through the countless lives he touched and the cherished memories he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered as a man who embraced every moment with passion and humor.

Predeceased by his mother, Pearl McMillan; father, Thomas Swanger; many sisters, nieces & nephews.
He is survived by his children, Anne Granata, Wayne Thomas (Lisa) Swanger Jr., Charles (Katrina) Swanger & Christopher "CJ" Swanger; several grandchildren & great-grandchildren; siblings, Dolly Steffen & Bernie Swanger; many nieces, nephews & cousins.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hildebrandt Hospice for the wonderful care of their dad.
Family will receive friends 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm, February 23, 2025 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 2636 Ridgeway Avenue. A Funeral Ceremony will be held 2:00 pm.
