William Thomas Ammon

September 15, 1941 — February 6, 2024

William (Bill) Thomas Ammon, passed away on February 7, 2024, at the age of 82 in Rochester, New York. He was born on September 15, 1941, in Rochester. Butch was a beloved member of his community, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy that will be remembered by all who knew him.

In his early years, Bill attended Holy Apostles Primary School and later graduated from Aquinas High School, in Rochester, N.Y., class of 1959. Following his education, he settled in California where he started a family with his wife, Shirley (Dianetti) Sacheli and began sharpening his skills in sales. He later returned to Rochester where he embarked on a successful career in auto car sales, working at various dealerships in the area, as well as time at Central Auto Auction.

Bill built a legacy, which includes his three daughters, 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, all who live across the United States. Being the oldest of six children, he always held a special place in his family's heart.

Bill was a happy-go-lucky fellow who had a passion for golfing and bowling with his buddies. He found joy in these activities and cherished the camaraderie they brought him. He was an avid American history buff and could name important figures, battles and details involving our great country. Sharing stories, books and movies about his favorite topics always brought him joy. He was also a big sports fan, following the Raiders and the Dodgers all of his life.

Although Bill did not have any military associations, his dedication to his community and his country was evident in his everyday life. He approached every task with a sense of duty and commitment, traits that earned him the respect and admiration of those around him.



William is survived by his significant other, Diane Bauman, and his daughters Joanne (Ammon) Vianos, Jeanne (Ammon) Kentch and Janette Ammon. Siblings: Daniel M Ammon (Rita), Joyce E. (Ammon) DiLorenzo (Mike Borstad), and James R. Ammon (Sandy) and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, William T. Ammon, his mother, Genevieve D. Ammon, and his siblings Michael J. Ammon and Suzanne N. (Ammon) DiLorenzo.

Bill will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones and the community he touched.
At this time, no services have been scheduled. However, a gathering will be held in Arizona to honor his life.
