William M. Iman

February 7, 1949 — October 17, 2024

Rochester

October 17, 2024, at the age of 75. Born on February 7, 1949, in Rochester, New York, William was a man whose life was marked by his devotion to family, faith, music, and service.

William was a dedicated postal worker with the United States Postal Service, embodying the core values of hard work and commitment to community.

Beyond his professional career, he was an accomplished self-taught musician, whose passion for music resonated deeply in his life. Serving as an organist at many local Catholic churches, William expressed his artistic spirit through the composition of several songs, always with music as the essence of his being.

An alumnus of Aquinas Institute High School, William furthered his education by earning a Bachelor's degree from St. John Fisher College in Rochester, NY, followed by a Master's degree from Middlebury College in Vermont. His academic journey was indicated by his lifelong pursuit of knowledge and personal growth.

Family meant everything to William. He shared a loving marriage of 47 years with his devoted wife, Mary R. Iman. Together, they raised three children: daughter Elizabeth and her spouse John Dickie, daughter Sarah Iman, and son Andrew with his spouse Rebecca. The joy of being a grandfather was evident in William's eyes as he cherished his grandchildren, Damien, Calvin, and Hayden.

William is also survived by his siblings-in-law, including brother-in-law Thomas (Karen) Duyssen, sister-in-law Margaret Murphy, sister-in-law Anna Malchoff, and sister-in-law Jane (Paul) Salamone, alongside many treasured nieces, nephews and cousins who will carry on his legacy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Hilda "Nana" Iman, his Aunt Julia "Juju" Bagdon, aunts Phyllis and Rose, uncles Jerry, Joe, & Raymond (Amy) and his cousins Shirley Bagdon and Patty (Marshall) Frank.

William's warm spirit, quirky dad humor, and good sense of humor will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. His love for cooking and creating meals for his family was a reflection of his nurturing character, ensuring that his home was always filled with warmth and love.
