Wiley C. Townsend was born January 9th, 1947 in Enterprise Alabama to the late Waxie lee Townsend and Fannie Dell Townsend. He attended Carrol street elementary school.

Wiley was married to Savonne Cooper in 1977 and to this union 2 sons were born Wiley Townsend Jr. and Willie Townsend and he also gained a son Richard (Rickey) Cooper. Later he married Betty Legg. Both wives and 2 sons Ricky and Willie preceded him in death.

He worked at Emgram Vault company, he later moved to Rochester New York were he worked at City Pump & Tank and also did asphalt work at Bennet Paving.
Wiley was baptized at Church of Jesus christ.

Wiley was called home on December 1st 2023. He was survived by his son Wiley Townsend JR. 1 grandson Wiley Townsend III and 1great grandson Camron Cabaal Townsend all of Rochester New York. 1 brother Bishop J.V Townsend of Enterprise Alabama, 4 sisters Annie Lou Johnson , Katie (Charlie) Council, Felisha Spencer and Fannie Jewel Townsend and 1 sister in law Sheila Townsend. All of Rochester New york . Also a host of nieces and nephews relatives and friends.


He was preceded in death by 7 siblings Frances McClindon, John Townsend, Lonnie Townsend, Genell Council, Jimmy Townsend ,Christine Allen, Patricia Townsend and Moses Townsend.

Family and friends may call 10-11am on Wednesday December 13, 2023 at The Church of Jesus Christ Inc., 16 Helena St. Rochester, NY 14605. Funeral services will follow visitation at 11 am until 12 noon. Interment Riverside Cemetery.
